I began collecting model horses when I was four years old. My first horse was given to me by my cousin and it was a Breyer Clock Horse, Breyer's first model horse. Joan won him at a county fair and when I got him he was already well played with. He was palomino and I named him Golden Boy. There was crack in his back, a hole in his tail and a mising ear but he was perfect to me. My father made a wooden ear for him and the crack and hole were filled with Playdough and he was set for adventures.
Since then he has been repainted and restored to his former glory and has been joined by a whole herd of other model horses, most customs and repaints but he is still the favorite.
I guess you could say he was my first attempt at customizing. But the start of Copperearth Creations came in 2002 when I began buying bodies, as we in the "industry" call the fodder that we use to create our magic. It isa very addictive hobby, that has turned into a passion. I now do many repaints, custom creations and portrait models of customers' own favorite live horses, and also restorations of injured models that are just too pretty to mar. I fix up their boo-boos and they are once again a work of art to be enjoyed all over again.
Let me make YOU a memory!
